The House was built after the great earthquake of 1644 that ravaged the region and ruined the outbuildings of the Castle.
It was built by the Orduña family, lineage of Basque origin who had come to El Castell de Guadalest as people's trust of Cardona, admirals of Aragon. In 1542, D. Sancho de Cardona received the title of Marquis of Guadalest. The Orduña were at the service of the Marquis as governors of the fortress and Governors of their States.
The House was burnt down and pillaged during the war of succession (1708). In 1756, D. Pedro Antonio Buenaventura García and Orduña entered the military order of Santiago thereby achieving access to the noble estate.
